Collaborative Arts / Open Arts instructor Emmanuele Phuon has been busy with numerous publications and performances over the course of the past year!
Last fall, Phuon danced in Yvonne Rainer's new piece, 'HELLZAPOPPIN'--What about the bees?' which premiered at New York Live Arts and continued performances at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C., as well as Staaltche Kunsthalle in Baden-Baden, Germany.
Phuon wrote the 2023 Winter Issue of the journal Dance Index, published by Eakins Press. The issue focused on Phuon's choreographic work. Another book that Phuon contributed to last year, Milestones in Dance in the USA, received the National Dance Education Organization's Ruth Lovell Murray Book Award this year. Phuon wrote a chapter on postmodern dance in the book.
In April and June of this year, Emmanuele Phuon's new piece, We, was developed during residencies at The Quick Center for the Arts in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Kaatsbaan Cultural Center in Tivoli, New York.
Currently, Phuon is working on a dance improvisation book with Yvonne Rainer.
