THE FALLING AND THE RISING, a new opera by GMTWP Alum Zach Redler (Cycle 18)

GMTWP Alum and Guest Faculty member Zach Redler (Cycle 18) will have two of his operas produced and featured this year.

MOVIN' UP IN THE WORLD, with libretto by Jerre Dye, and which premiered as a part of the Ghosts of Crosstown project in 2014 at Opera Memphis, was brought back as a featured opera in Opera Memphis' Midtown Opera Festival and will be revived as the featured opera in the opera company's 30 Days of Opera 2018. THE FALLING AND THE RISING, also with libretto by Jerre Dye, was recently featured in July’s Opera America Magazine and will receive several upcoming productions for the 2018-19 Season including at the Seagle Music Colony in September and October; at Alvin Ailey in January with The US Army Field Band and Soldier’s Chorus; at Peabody Conservatory in February 2019; and at Opera Memphis in April 2019. The opera premiered at Texas Christian University in April 2018 with members of the Soldier’s Chorus and was co-commissioned by the US Army Field Band and Soldier's Chorus, Seattle Opera, San Diego Opera, Arizona Opera, Opera Memphis, Texas Christian University and Seagle Music Colony.
