Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alums Austin Nuckols & Lily Dwoskin (both Cycle 26) wrote the music and lyrics to the show A TURTLE ON A FENCE POST, featuring a principal antagonist: Andrew Cuomo.
The show is based on true events, but is a fictionalized version of the Hank Morris story, who was a big-time political consultant and powerbroker, and who pleaded guilty to involvement in a pension fraud pay-to-play scandal. Andrew Cuomo, who was then serving as New York's attorney general, successfully prosecuted the case against Morris.
Written by Morris and conceived while he was serving his prison sentence (under the pseudonym Prisoner #11RO731), the show features songs written by Program alums Nuckols & Dwoskin and is playing a limited ten-week engagement through Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.
