Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alum Yejune Kim (Cycle 32) was chosen for New York University’s Production Lab Artist-in-Residence program. This incubator for students and alumni provides artists with support to create new pieces and expand current works-in-progress. Resident artists have access to collaboration with the Production Lab’s student artists, dramaturgs, designers, and producers. The program lasts six months and culminates in a festival in the spring.
Kim, a composer from South Korea, won the Grand Prize in the Write Out Loud Songwriting Contest in 2024, and was a finalist for the Jonathan Larson grant in 2025. During this Production Lab residency Kim plans to continue developing her musical HEAVY HEAVEN, for which she is writing book, lyrics, and music. The show follows Mango, a mini pig as she tries to save the girl she loves.
