The songwriting team of Ben Bonnema & Christopher Saskel (Cycle 21) and composer/lyricist/librettist Michael R. Jackson (Cycle 14) were awarded the 2020 Fred Ebb Award. The prize includes a $60,000 award and concert showcase of the winners’ work. The Fred Ebb Award is named in honor of the late lyricist and recognizes excellence in musical theatre songwriting for a songwriter or songwriting team that has not achieved significant commercial success. The awards were presented by Audra McDonald on November 30th in a virtual ceremony.
