Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alums Andi Lee Carter & Henco Espag (both Cycle 28) presented OPPY A MARS ROVER THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE at Judson Memorial Church in December. The production was directed by Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program alum Mika Kauffman (Cycle 26).

The interactive, in-person presentation told the story of OPPY, a spunky new robotic space exploration rover, which landed on Mars with to find her twin sister Spirit who has touched down on the other side of the fourth rock from the sun. Through incidental music, dance and visual design, audience members watched as OPPYs objective to send NASA important data lasted long past her projected life span of 90 martian days and she continued to wander the dusty red planet for nearly 15 years searching diligently for her star-crossed sister.

The audience became NASA in the pandemic friendly, 25-minute experience and we were asked to facilitate OPPY's expedition to Mars and beyond.
