Gun & Powder

GUN & POWDER, a new musical by GMTWP alums Angelica Chéri & Ross Baum (Cycle 24) will be playing at The Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA in January and February.

With book & lyrics by Chéri and music by Baum and direction by award-winning director Robert O'Hara (Broadway's Slave Play), the soaring musical examines race, family and identity with two electrifying women who went from farm girls to legends with gun and powder.

Inspired by a true story, the show follows the sisters Clarke in a dynamic, moving and inspiring world premiere musical of notorious outlaws who ruled the Wild West.

To help their mother settle a sharecropper debt, Mary and Martha Clarke—African American twins—pass themselves as White to seize the funds by any means necessary. However, their bond of sisterhood is tested when they fall in love with two very different men, one Black, the other White.

The show had previously been workshopped as the inaugral collaboration between the GMTWP and UG Drama's New Studio on Broadway.
