GMTWP Alums Sara Cooper (Cycle 18 & Adjunct Faculty), Danny Ursetti & Lauren Taslitz (both Cycle 26) were amongst the winners of the NAMT 15-minute Musical Challenge this past spring.
The contest was developed in March as a push for creativity during times of self-isolation during the pandemic.
Awards were given on two levels. Challenge winners will receive a cash prize supported by the Alhadeff Family Charitable Foundation. Over the course of the application period, 269 projects of both self-contained and full-length new works were submitted.
Cooper won for her musical Perpetual Sunshine and the Ghost Girls with music written by collaborator Lynne Shankel.
Ursetti & Taslitz won for their musical Mimosa with words by Taslitz and music by Ursetti.
