GMTWP Alum and Adjunct Professor Deborah Brevoort (Cycle 6) had the world premiere of her intimate opera STEAL A PENCIL FOR ME at the Wolf Theatre in January. Written with composer Gerald Cohen, the show is based on the book of the same title. A story about the indestructibility of the life spirit and the power of humankind to survive adversity, Steal a Pencil for Me explores intimate concerns and private dramas alongside the epic horrors of the Holocaust.
Brevoort's "Amish Hip Hop Musical" CROSSING OVER with music and lyrics by GMTWP Alum Stephanie Salzman (Cycle 3) also recieved a concert reading in the New Works Series at NYC's Theatre Barn in February, 2018.
