The Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Programs welcomes creative, curious individuals who aspire to be bookwriters, lyricists or composers of musical theatre. Our students come from across the United States and around the world to join together to marry words to music.
The emphasis of our two year MFA Program is on writing new musical material in a workshop environment. We have no stylistic imperative. We encourage our students to discover all the possible forms musical theatre will take in our ever-changing cultural landscape. We welcome both traditionalists and innovators.
The Graduate Musical Theatre Program is an intense experience where a dedication to hard work and a belief in the power of music joined with words are absolute requirements. We are happy to receive applications from early and mid-career musical theatre writers and from writers and composers from other fields of endeavor who feel drawn to direct their gifts towards making music theatre.
We offer a unique and organic approach to the study of making musicals and an opportunity to become part of a strong and supportive community of artists that now spreads across the globe.
