Grad Film alum Sofía Camargo is one of five recipients of the 2025 Vimeo Short Film grant for her film La Selva. Presented by Nikon and RED, the grant awards filmmakers with $30,000 towards the production of a short film, equipment, mentorship and distribution. ´

Sofía Camargo is a Colombian filmmaker whose work explores women and domestic life through sensory storytelling. Her short films Al lado del río (2019) and Nostos (2024) were official selections at the Cartagena International Film Festival, with Al lado del río winning the NALIP Jury Award. She co-directed We’re Not Done Yet (2024), starring Barbara Sukowa, which screened at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. As a cinematographer, her work has been showcased at Berlinale, Palm Springs, and Aspen Shortsfest, earning her the Vienna Shorts Jury Prize for Best Cinematography in 2023. Sofía is currently developing her first feature film.
