Professor Spike Lee released "Da 5 Bloods" on Netflix on June 12. The film follows four Black American vets as they battle the forces of man and nature when they return to Vietnam seeking the remains of their fallen squad leader and the gold fortune he helped them hide.

The film is a New York Times Critic's Pick, stating, "Spike Lee’s new joint is an anguished, funny, violent argument with and about American history, with an unforgettable performance from Delroy Lindo at its heart."

Salon.com said of the film "foremost among its accomplishments is the confident ease with which it traverses many shades of human experience... Lee does this by skillfully fading discrete genres into each other over the course of its two hour and 35 minute runtime."

NBC News writes, "Spike Lee takes his audience on a journey across the decades, putting a spotlight on the Black veteran experience in a way few filmmakers ever have. In doing so, he successfully links a film nominally about the Vietnam War to today's cultural battles."

"Da 5 Bloods" is Lee's follow up to 2018's "BlacKkKlansman," and is available to stream on Netflix.
