“Pearl”
Alum Yuchao Feng’s Pearl , shot by alum Lasse Ulvedal Tolbøll, has been selected for the Student Etudes Competition of EnergaCAMERIMAGE International Film Festival.
The dramatic short takes place in a desolate Chinese fishing village. There, a six-year-old girl lives with her younger brother and their single mother, struggling to survive on the brink of poverty. Unbeknownst to the young girl, her mother, an oyster harvester, is given the opportunity to leave her hometown and improve her living situation under one condition: to leave one child behind.
Pearl has had a robust festival run, screening at Edmonton International, HollyShorts Film Festival and Tribeca (among others).
