Professor Spike Lee will receive the 46th Annual Chaplin Award, Film at Lincoln Center’s highest honor. The award was previously given to such groundbreaking figures as Martin Scorsese, Alfred Hitchcock, Meryl Streep and Elizabeth Taylor.
Film at Lincoln Center is a nonprofit, Manhattan-based organization focused on movie programming. Executive director Lesli Klainberg said they chose Lee because he “has been making challenging films that speak to our vibrant city and to the larger world, and his work remains as vital as ever.” Lee will be presented the award in April.
