“Youth” Wins IFP Student Short Film Showcase at Gotham

Grad Film student Farida Zahran’s Youth won at the IFP Student Short Film Showcase at this year’s Gotham Awards. The showcase, sponsored by partners JetBlue and Focus Features, spotlights five outstanding films by students at NYC area film schools. Their films will be featured on JetBlue’s inflight entertainment systems for 6 months across the US, Latin American and the Caribbean, and have theatrical screenings and be made available for digital streaming through Focus Features.

Youth, written and directed by Zahran, follows a teenager who finds herself in new territory after she decides to approach her crush at a party, and is pushed to consider her own boundaries for the first time when they end up alone in his car. Fellow Grad Film student Leah Chen Baker produced the film, and alum Kristin Kouke DP'd.
