Rezwan Shahriar Sumit
Alum Rezwan Shahriar Sumit's feature film project, A New Prophet, was an official Film Bazaar Co-Production Market selection this year. Film Bazaar is the largest South Asian film market. It encourages creative and financial collaboration between the South Asian and International film communities. A New Prophet was the only project representing Bangladesh at the CPM.
The script for A New Prophet won the Sloan Foundation Production Award in 2017. It follows Javed, a young game developer, who finds his life stuck in limbo between heaven and hell when he tries to bring his broken family together using a virtual reality app. It's a drama set in the underbelly of Dhaka's tech circuit and fringe studios.
Sumit's first feature, The Salt In Our Waters participated in the 2016 edition of Co-Production Market. That film recently received France's national film grant CNC Aide aux cinémas du monde and is currently in post-production.
