The Independent Spirit Awards have announced their 2019 nominees and Grad Film community members made the list.
Thesis student Nicholas Ma produced the film Wont You Be My Neighbor?, which received a nomination for Best Documentary.
Alum Debra Granik's film Leave No Trace was nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Female Supporting.
Alum Tamara Jenkins's feature Private Life picked up nominations for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Female.
Both Jenkins and Granik are also going to be recieving a Bonnie Award, which "recognizes female directors with a remarkable body of work that demonstrates their uniqueness of vision and groundbreaking approach to film." The Bonnie Award was given to fellow Grad Film alum Chloé Zhao last year.
