Tisch Gala FAQs

What is a gala?

The Tisch Gala is a festive, social event used to raise funds in support of Tisch School of the Arts students. It is a glamorous celebration of the innumerable contributions Tisch has made to the artistic landscape, and proceeds from the evening support the current and future students who strive for creative excellence.

Where do the funds go?

The money raised at the annual Tisch Gala supports the critical needs of students. This includes, but is not limited to, scholarships, the  stewardship of Tisch spaces, programming, and more.

I’m a Tisch parent; can I bring my Tisch student?

Student tickets are available for $300 per person. Student tickets are limited to one per NYU ID. Tickets are non-transferable. If, however, you purchase a full table, you are welcome to fill the seats at your table with anyone you like without purchasing additional tickets.

Can my Tisch student sit with me? 

Individuals who are eligible for $300 tickets are seated separately from the full-priced ticket holders whose tickets start at $1,250. If you would like your student to sit with you, purchase a full-priced ticket for them, or purchase a table at which your student is welcome to join.

What is the advantage of buying a table instead of individual tickets?

As a fundraising event, the annual Tisch Gala is one of the most significant sources of revenue each year in support of critical student needs. By purchasing a gala table, you can make a tangible difference in ensuring that we reach our goal for our talented and deserving students.

We are so grateful to our generous donors and for the many ways in which they contribute. Those who purchase a table are seated closer to the performance stage in a space of prominence in the ballroom. In addition, those who purchase a $25,000 table and higher are featured with a full page in our Tisch Gala Journal in recognition of their generosity. Those who purchase a table by February 25, 2024, will also be listed on our printed gala invitation.

What should I wear?

We recommend Festive Cocktail Attire for the Tisch Gala. For examples of attire from prior galas, refer to the photo sections in each year on our Tisch Gala homepage.

Can my dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes, we will ensure that all dietary restrictions are met and understood by our catering service. You will be contacted prior to the event to confirm any dietary restrictions.

Is the space accessible for my wheelchair?

NYU Tisch School of the Arts provides reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities. Requests for accommodations should be made at least two weeks before the date of the event when possible by contacting Patrick Simas

I can’t come to the gala, can I still make a donation?

Absolutely! We are so appreciative of any donation to the Tisch Gala, as it helps us reach our overall goal in support of critical student needs. Make your donation here.

Can I use my Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to pay for my gala purchase?

Per IRS guidelines, DAFs cannot be used to pay for tickets or tables to fundraising events or galas. Furthermore, DAF grants cannot be used to pay the tax-deductible portion of a ticket or table if the full cost includes both a tax deductible and non-deductible portion. 

You may use a DAF to make a fully tax-deductible donation in support of the Tisch Gala. 

Is my purchase tax-deductible?

Table and ticket purchases are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law, less $425 per seat. Community Tickets and After Party Tickets are not considered tax-deductible. Please consider making an additional gift in support of critical Tisch student needs. 

Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE and cannot be converted to an outright gift. If you are contemplating payment from a donor-advised fund or family foundation, please consult with your tax advisor.
