About the Program
Course Number: DWPG-NT 1
The Future Dramatic Writers Workshop is a free, highly-focused academic and professional writing program for students who have the talent and the will to write for theatre, film and television.
The Dramatic Writers Workshop gives students a taste of what it means to study and write drama, as well as an idea of what life as a dramatic writer is like.
From February to May, students learn:
the fundamentals of dramatic structure in lecture and discussion sessions on playwriting, screenwriting and television writing
develop scripts in each medium in the writing workshop sessions, and present their playwriting work in the department's Rita and Burton Goldberg Theatre
- the same rigorous basic training as undergraduates: they must take courses in the basics of both screenwriting and playwriting.
