The departments of Drama and Dramatic Writing will once again join forces for our annual 24-Hour Play Festival taking place Friday and Saturday, September 9-10!
All first-year Dramatic Writing students — undergrad and grad — are welcome to participate.
Kick-Off Event: Friday, September 9
7:30 p.m. EDT
Loewe Theater, 721 Broadway
HOW IT WORKS
- All interested writers must attend a kick-off meeting on Fri., Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. EDT in the Frederick Loewe Theater (721 Broadway, 2nd floor). At the meeting, you will be randomly assigned to a company that includes actors and a director (though you may also direct your own piece). Each company will be assigned a theme on which you will write your 10-minute play. Then you go home…and write!
- The next day—Saturday, September 10—you’ll return to 721 Broadway at an assigned time to rehearse. It’s up to your company whether you end up with a simple reading or something more staged. *Although you will only be rehearsing for two hours, you must be available for the entirety of the day, as the scope of this collaboration will not allow for scheduling around individual conflicts.
- At 7:30 p.m. that evening, all of the new plays will be performed in various venues around 721 Broadway.
