Tisch Drama is excited to announce that Camilla Carrasco, one of its first-year Production & Design (P&D) students, has been awarded the prestigious Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship

The accolade holds profound significance within the costume design community, given its rarity among undergraduate students and the highly competitive national pool of both graduate and undergraduate applicants. Camilla's achievement is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication.

One of only two recipients of the scholarship, Camilla expressed her excitement saying, “I am deeply honored to be a recipient of this prestigious scholarship and am excited  for the opportunities that it will bring.” With funding from the scholarship, Camilla plans to take  art classes in Milan and Barcelona to further hone her craft and continue growing as an artist.

Erin Black, Associate Arts Professor and Head of Costume Design  at P&D, supported Camilla through the application process. "Camilla is bright and talented, and has a clear sense of purpose,” said Black. “I am thrilled  she’ll have the support to develop her practice and explore ways in which it will inform and enrich her costume designs.”

The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship, funded by the Estate of Willa Kim, a renowned and award-winning costume designer for stage, dance, and film, is administered by the Theatre Communications Group (TCG). The scholarship provides recipients with comprehensive support, including tuition, supplies, and travel expenses for further study. It also supports participation in extracurricular (non-credit) hand-drawing and painting training, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
