Theater Mitu, founded by Tisch Drama Chair Rubén Polendo, was awarded a 2017 MAP Fund Grant for its latest work, "Remnant."

In 2016, Theater Mitu sent its company of artists on a series of research trips throughout the Middle East and United States to conduct interviews with soldiers, military officials, journalists, refugees, and everyday citizens living under extraordinary circumstances. The wealth of interviews comprises a vast archive of primary source material that will become the text, video, and voices that populate the company’s Remnant.

This documentary performance piece will blur the specificity of geopolitical borders to focus more keenly on the human experience of war and the effects it has on the people who fight and survive its realities.
