Four Tisch Drama Alumni Win Tony Awards

Four Tisch Drama alumni took home Tony Awards from the 73rd ceremony of the annual awards honoring excellence on Broadway, held June 9 at Radio City Music Hall.

In addition, Associate Arts Professor Michael McElroy, founder of Broadway Inspirational Voices, received a Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.

Ali Stroker (class of 2009) made history as the first person who uses a wheelchair to be nominated for and win a Tony Award for her role as Ado Annie in the Broadway revival of the musical Oklahoma!

Alumni winners for 2019 include the following: 

Best Revival of a Musical
Caleb Hammons (class of 2007), Producer, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical
Ali Stroker (class of 2009), Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

Best Lighting Design of a Musical
Bradley King (class of 2005), Hadestown

Best Direction of a Musical
Rachel Chavkin (class of 2002), Hadestown
