Full Time Faculty Search: Assistant Arts Professor in Movement

NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, Department of Drama invites applications for an Assistant Arts Professor with expertise in Movement for the Experimental Theatre Wing. This is a full time, renewable contract faculty position with full benefits and will commence in the Fall of 2023.

Applicants should have experience teaching modern and postmodern movement training including viewpoints, contact improvisation, somatic movement and contemporary choreography.  Applicants should have a demonstrated interest and experience in teaching a diverse student body with an inclusive curriculum.

In addition to teaching foundational and advanced movement classes, other responsibilities may include instruction in choreography, cross-disciplinary teaching, and coaching on projects and productions in the Experimental Theatre Wing. The faculty member will also mentor students, engage in outreach activities, and contribute to the articulation and fulfillment of the educational mission of The Experimental Theatre Wing. 

Dedicated to initiating students into the artistic process through the medium of theater, The Experimental Theatre Wing has been in the forefront of innovative theater pedagogy for over forty years. Its multidisciplinary curriculum includes rigorous training in all areas of acting, movement, voice and creating original work. It is designed to enable graduates to meet the far- ranging demands of contemporary and traditional practice as well as become leaders in the world of theater, dance, film and television. Experimental Theatre Wing alumni have forged successful and influential careers in all areas of the field. 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have either an MFA and/or comparable professional training. Candidates should also have a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the University level or in a professional conservatory.
