New Grad Students Welcome Page

Congratulations on your acceptance to the Media Producing MA program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts!

This page has been designed to guide you through the process of becoming a Tisch graduate student and to answer any questions you may have along the way. Just click on any of the topics to get more information on that subject.

Please note that the Media Producing MA program is a fully online program with all coursework and classes conducted virtually. Access to University facilities is not required.

1. Activate Your NetID and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Note: You will need to wait at least 24 hours from the date of your acceptance email to activate your NetID and follow the steps outlined below.

Included in your acceptance letter is your NetID, a unique alphanumeric code that NYU assigns to you (e.g. xyz,123). Your NetID is not your University ID number (which is a 9-character ID number starting with a capital N).

You will use your NetID and password to access your NYUHome account, which is a customizable web interface that links you to your NYU email account as well as other systems and tools, and serves as a home base for all NYU community members. You can also set up multi-factor authenication (MFA).

2. Check Your NYU Email Account

After students have activated their NetID, the system will process this activation, and, for those who are eligible, their NYU Email and Google Education Accounts will automatically become active. Please allow the system time to process the activation of your credentials.

Once your NYU email is active, you can access your account via NYUHome by clicking the "NYU Email" card or navigating directly to mail.nyu.edu. It is NYU policy that communications are sent via NYU email.  Students are advised to check NYU email often or configure their inbox to automatically forward emails to their personal account.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS LIVING IN CHINA: As Google is not available in China, we recommend using the NYU VPN to access email while out of the US. Please follow the instructions listed in the link below.

NYU Email / Calendar: Access from countries that censor the Internet*

*Note: NYU NetID must be activated and password set before accessing this resource.

3. Join the Tisch Admitted Grad Student Community

We want you to make meaningful connections with other new graduate students before your program begins. That's why we launched the 2025 Admitted Tisch Grad Student Community - a place for you to connect with other admitted students as you prepare to start your Tisch graduate program.

By joining the community, you will have already met other students virtually and gotten to know each other by the time you start your program– it’s a great way to find your people, settle in, and feel more at home here. You will also be able to chat to department and admissions ambassadors to ask questions about enrolling at NYU.

How to Join

You can download the Unibuddy app from the Apple Store or Google Play.

After this, the "Admission Offer" button will no longer be available to you online. Also, please remember to submit the candidate reply form after making the payment as that is the only way we can track the tuition deposit.

5. Financial Aid, Tuition and Fees

If you are a US citizen or US permanent resident and filed the FAFSA, you will be notified via email by the Office of Financial Aid when your financial aid package is ready for viewing. Log on to your NYUHome account with your NetID and password and go to the Financial Aid section to view the financial aid information when it becomes available.  Information about financial aid can be found on our website.

International students are encouraged to visit the Tisch Financial Aid Page and NYU's Financial Aid page for international students to learn more regarding financial aid options.

More information on tuition, fees and other expenses can be found on our website. Please note that the figures listed on the site are per term (semester), not per year. There are two terms/semesters in one academic year.

7. Orientation, Registration & Advisement

Representatives from your department will reach out to you in the coming weeks and months with more information on orientation, registration and advisement. Each Graduate Department at Tisch has its own specific guidelines and timetable for class registration and advisement and they will assist you in these matters in a timely manner. Please note that the undergraduate registration period is not connected in any way to graduate level programs.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to reach out directing to your department at tsp.ma.producing@nyu.edu.

On behalf of the staff of the Office of Graduate Admissions, we welcome you! If you need assistance or do not know where to turn, please contact us at tisch.gradadmissions@nyu.edu or (212)998-1900 and we will be happy to assist.
