Theatre Studies: Early Modern English drama, including Shakespeare
Christina M. Squitieri is an adjunct professor in Tisch's Theatre Studies program. She received her PhD in English Literature from New York University with a dissertation on early modern drama and the relationship between theatricality and identity. Her expertise is the drama of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, early modern performance practices, and identity formation in the period, with a side interest in English legal history. She teaches three courses at Tisch: a Shakespeare survey course; "Shakespeare & Company," on Shakespeare alongside the playwrights Marlowe, Middleton, Dekker, Jonson, Fletcher, and Webster; and "Shakespeare's Women: Maids, Monsters, Daughters," on the place of women in Shakespeare. She is the proud recipient of the 2019 Dean’s Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award in the Humanities.
