Karen Chamberlain is an actor, director, teacher and coach who specializes in teaching The Meisner Technique. After earning her MFA in Acting from The Mason Gross School of The Arts at Rutgers University, where she trained with William Esper and Maggie Flanigan, she was invited by Mr. Esper to train as a teacher. She went on to teach first and second year Meisner Technique at his NYC studio for a decade while serving as the Head of Voice and Speech for the BFA Professional Actor Training Program at Rutgers University. Karen was also the first Resident Director for The Rutgers Conservatory at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. She is an ensemble member of The Collective-NY, a Theatre and Film production company and has appeared in many of their stage productions and films. Most recently she was nominated for “Best Actress” by The Pasadena International Film Festival for her performance in “Casey229”. (A Collective-NY production) Recent television credits include Life and Beth on Hulu and Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central. Karen has also served on the faculty at The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, Playwrights Horizons Theatre School and The Maggie Flanigan Studio. She has recently rejoined the Acting faculty at The William Esper Studio and currently teaches first and second year at The Meisner Studio at NYU. Directing credits at NYU include As It Is in Heaven, Bluestockings, Dancing at Lughnasa, Where Are We Going? and Scenes and Revelations.
