Aleksei Grinenko is an adjunct faculty member at Tisch Drama. His book, Seriously Mad: Mental Distress and the Broadway Musical, explores the history of American musical theatre’s engagement with the notions of madness and mental illness. His research has also appeared in The Routledge Companion to the Contemporary Musical as well as Theatre Journal, Studies in Musical Theatre, European Stages and Slavic and East European Performance. After a decade of professional work as a theatre artist in Belarus, Aleksei continues to collaborate with Eastern European theatre companies. Most recently, he produced an award-winning Russian-language production of Next to Normal (in his translation).
