PROJECT
MUSA Critical Series
MUSA Critical Series is a cycle of two conversations/performances, with two musical collectives whose work put a clear emphasis on social justice and activism. The cycle offers an opportunity for sharing, dialogue, critical engagement, and the creation of networks of support around their communal work through music. Escuela Canalón (Colombia) and Rumba de la Musa (NYC) will discuss the current power of music to advance social justice issues and how it constitutes an effective organizational tool for BIPOC throughout the Americas. The discussion will pay special attention to the antiracist, feminist, anti-queer struggles emerging from these musical forms in their potential to respond to social and communal needs.
