Big Friendship

Aminatou Sow and Ann Friedman coined “big friendship” as “a strong, significant bond that transcends life phases, geographical locations, and emotional shifts”. While they can be life-giving, life-changing, and extremely positive, these relationships can also be messy, incomplete, and at times, highly uncertain. With my short film, I will center a very quiet moment that is incredibly high-stakes, but not in the traditional ways that Black women are portrayed on screen. I would like viewers to witness a deep, loving friendship between two Black women and what that relationship looks like in conflict.
