Framing Beauty, a traveling exhibition curated by Photography & Imaging Chair Dr. Deb Willis, opened on Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Grunwald Gallery at Indiana State University. The Indiana Daily Student reports that the exhibition is especially befitting the school's fall semester's theme, "Beauty." Says Dr. Willis in a recent article announcing the exhibition:
“I don’t have a definition of beauty,” Willis said. “It’s just something that when you feel it, you know it. I never identify beauty, I never focus beauty. What I try to do is have an experience and appreciate it.”
In a different article on the "Themester," Dr. Willis goes on:
“I wanted to have a broader discussion about beauty because it’s met with so many various implications,” Willis said. “Especially with women’s bodies or black bodies, so I thought this was really important
to do.”
