Join us for our Spring Welcome event, Marking Our Time: A Virtual Showcase, where you will have the opportunity to engage with and celebrate the works of three featured artists from the NYU community. These artists’ works mark a time in their personal journeys that hope to interrogate injustice and inspire transformational change in times of social unrest.
During times of social unrest, creative outlets have helped us carry out a message to the world. Art directly contributes to marking a time in history. It becomes a vessel for liberation and an act for change. The results directly impact transformational change.
Toni Bambara stated, “The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible”—your photo collection, poems, stories, paintings, music, sculptures, and/or short films all mark a time in our lives and leaves a legacy for future generations to understand the pain, happiness, and grief of the moment.
