DPI Faculty Spotlight: Professor Editha Mesina releases new book, Chronicle

Friday, Jul 3, 2026

Editha Mesina’s Chronicle presents photographic work of family life, tracing an intimate geography that stretches from Quezon City, Philippines, her birthplace to her home in New York. These views meditate on the vernacular and combine references to protests supporting Philippine human rights with nods to the medium of photography. Constructed in panorama format, the photographs are individual frames stitched together, assemblages of space and time. Mesina repurposes the panorama format’s known representations of grand vistas to express the reflections of a mother, activist, and photographer. As an immigrant artist, she explores concepts of belonging, diasporic identity, and memory in these quotidian moments.
