The New York Times Lens Blog featured a story about DPI alum Rian Dundon and his experience as a new father. The photos used were taken from Rian's years long documenting of the messiness and gravity surrounding his new role in life. The story itself of was written by David Gonzalez:

Rian Dundon wasn‘t sure what to expect as a new father. But he knew he wasn’t a buffoon. In his project “New Life,” he has documented not just the arrival of his daughter, Mazie, in 2016, but how fatherhood alters how you look at the world.

"I like to think I’m bringing something to the conversation about modern parenting,” said Mr. Dundon, 38, who lives in Oakland with his wife, Julie. “It’s interesting how in pop culture fathers are perceived as buffoons or misanthropes. That’s not how I felt. I felt confused and out of my league like any new father, but it wasn’t sketch comedy for me.”
