Digilab Rules & Etiquette

NO FOOD OR DRINK. EVER.
It’s pretty clear. You know not to bring food or drink in the Digilab. If you do, you will be banned from the lab for one week. No exceptions.

NO WATER.
Water is indeed a liquid. S/he who drinketh water in the lab shall be bannethed.

CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! CLEAN UP AFTER OTHERS!

PLEASE take your cell phone calls outside.

NO music or audio without headphones.

NO stealing.

DO NOT allow anyone without a handscan into the lab.

NO ONE may use the computers but students with assigned handscans.
You may bring your model in to look at photographs after a shoot, but s/he may not use the computers and you must be considerate of overcrowding in the lab.

YOU MAY ONLY USE ONE COMPUTER AT A TIME.
If you Bogart or bully, you WILL be booted from the lab.

YOU MUST VACATE IMMEDIATELY if someone has reserved a station.
Reservations are forfeited if you show up more than 15 minutes late.

YOU MUST BE PRESENT to use a computer.
If you leave something running, don’t expect it to be there when you get back. If you have a multi-hour printing or compression project, talk to Edgar or Karl first.

DO NOT change cables, hubs or fixed peripherals.

DO NOT attempt to install software or change computer settings.
If you have a suggestion, talk to Edgar.

MARS is available for you to temporarily save work.

Items over one week old will be routinely deleted from Mars (local workspace) and PIXIE (network storage). NEVER store anything in the “student” folder or Desktop.

BACKUP AND REMOVE YOUR WORK regularly.
DVD-R’s and portable hard drives are essential. Get some.

PRINTER INK may be obtained by asking a TA or the Tech Team.

"Low Ink" does not mean "no ink." The printer will stop printing and say "Replace Cartridge" when it's out of ink.

HANDSCANS stop functioning one half an hour before closing.

Problems? Freakouts? Questions?
Breathe. Put a reasonable amount of brainpower into your problem. Then go ask a Digi TA, Edgar or Karl. We’re happy to help.

Violation of any of these rules may result in being booted from the lab.
