Melis Tavmergen

Hi, I'm Melis! I'm from a coastal town called Izmir, located on the west coast of Turkey. I am currently very interested in the use of theatre as a political and educational tool. Coming from a politically polarized country, I am very interested to see how history is reflected and represented on stage and how the differing POVs play a role in shaping the story. 

Why Performance Studies? 

Coming from a theatre background, my understanding of performance mainly revolves around theatre and musicals. Through this program, I want to widen my understanding of what constitutes Performance Studies, and figure out where I locate myself in it.
