Why Performance Studies?
What I was trying to do all along in high school, across IB courses in Sports Science, History, and Theatre, was essentially Performance Studies. The throughline between them I could only vaguely name as storytelling, embodied memory, and how we measure excellence under pressure and constraints. Now, Performance Studies allows me to combine these different threads under a formal structure while welcoming my lived experiences as an athlete and creator. What I learn in class shapes how I analyze behavior and navigate spaces, and encourages me to be a more critical and ethical thinker. I’m excited by the idea that nothing is outside of this performance lens, and I can keep using it to question and connect, and remain a constant learner.
