Sierra Corliss

Bio:
Sierra Corliss (she/her) is a first-year BA Tisch student from Irvine, California, majoring in Performance Studies with a minor currently undecided. As she begins her studies in this department, she is an aspiring performer excited to become part of new communities, form meaningful connections, and continue discovering what draws her to the arts. She loves bringing creativity into every room she enters and is always looking for new opportunities to collaborate with the people around her! Through Performance Studies, she is especially interested in using the interdisciplinary nature of the major to reflect more deeply on her own relationship with performance and explore how different art forms can impact a person's perception of the world. She enjoys watching films, listening to music, and learning about artists whose work inspires her! In her time at Tisch, she hopes her interests continue to grow while finding her own place within the world of performance. 

Why Performance Studies at NYU?
I chose Performance Studies at NYU because I wanted to discover more ways in which performances can be created, rather than recognizing performance as something that only belongs on the stage. I felt intrigued by the idea of performance being used as a lens to understand my surroundings and being present across various art forms that allow people to express their identities. As someone with a keen interest in performing, I wanted to challenge myself to think beyond and help shape the way I understand art.
