Skylar Boilard
B.A Candidate
Skylar is a dynamic individual, with a strong passion for the arts and journalism. She is incredibly involved in her community, taking on various leadership roles. As an Admissions Ambassador for NYU's Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Skylar fosters interpersonal relationships as she guides tours of perspective students and families. She gets hands-on newsroom experience through serving as a staff writer for Washington Square News, where she covers the New York City arts scene. Skylar is also heavily engaged with the performing arts as Secretary for Knife Dog Play Festival, where she helps coordinate performances year round. Additionally, Skylar maintains her love for acting through collaborating with student-led organizations and films within Tisch. Back home in Massachusetts, Skylar works as a Sales Associate at Ocean State Job Lot. She hopes to blend her interests and experiences to pursue a career as an arts and entertainment journalist in New York City.

I chose Performance Studies because I am deeply passionate about the performing arts, writing, and academia. This interdisciplinary field offers me the freedom to explore these passions and tailor them to my specific goals. Studying performance through an academic, historical, and cultural lens allows me to apply a nuanced perspective to my journalistic writing. This field of study constantly encourages me to consider the various intersections within performance, simultaneously broadening my perspective and exciting me.
