Project Title: A DUMB GOD WITH BAD RHYTHM, Toward Time Undated

Project Description: This project considers discontinuous histories that emerge under conditions of total violence as a critical method. As the title suggests, it questions the authority of truth, time, and rhythm by recomposing beginnings, middles, and endings rather than providing a definitive mode of contact with their origins or predicted endings. It performs a reimagining of roots and routes in Denise Ferreira da Silva’s understanding of the racial event untethered by time and circumstance, as it meets the erosion of words and world in Kamau Brathwaite’s indeterminable wringing of sound and sense.
