Project Title: I can’t swim but I’m a great diver.

Project Description: What is the Body Archive and how does it transfer or transform? From the anecdotes of mothers to the regional folktales of a creator deity, this project explores different interactions between women and Jeju island of South Korea in order to answer the questions through the lens of Performance Studies. I deviate from the traditional notion of the archive and define the word Body Archive as a term that may refer to the physical body as well as embodied performance of the body. It exists as and within the bodies of women, the body of water, a body that knows how to build a wall out of volcanic rocks, and a sacred body that is said to have created those rocks years ago.
