Title of Project:

Framing 'Monstrous' Bodies: On the topics of Assemblages

Project Description:

Informed by the aesthetics of transness and its historical origins, this project thinks along the lines of transitivity -- how gender and race remain married to the idea of transversality. Being a practicing filmmaker, Shreya looks at film and its interactive power with an audience, its capacity to change and move people as a cyborgian body itself. The research includes looking at Blackness, brownness etc. and as they appear in film. It poses the question: how can trans theory help critically transform our immediate culture?

Project Inspiration:

This project wouldn't have been possible without the community and space that PS occupies, as well as the discussions on dance criticism in recitation and beyond.

Areas of Academic Interest/Research:

Memory, trauma, performance, queer+trans studies, ecologies, the poetics of waywardness, poiesis
