Title of Capstone Project
Dear Ophelia
Description of Capstone Project
My capstone explores the blurred space between our bodies as archives and the clothes we wear everyday. In sharing and analyzing my personal experience with bodily trauma, this project provides a context for how I make choices with garments in my life. Inspired by Julieta Singh’s No Archive Will Restore You, this study includes a short video that questions the separation between fabric and skin. I ask how the function of clothing differs according to one’s own bodily archive as well as social perceptions of the body. My video piece and the accompanying artist statement suggest that clothing is a part of our skin to comment on our struggles to accept and to be accepted.
