LEO [TBC]

Description of Capstone Project

LEO is a 7-track EP that follows an exploration of my journey through Asian-ness. What does it mean to be an Asian body? How do you circulate? But mostly, how I dealt with being that particular "other". Each day for seven days I wrote a song about different stages of my Asian body from innocence and the discovery of this otherness all through stages of denial, the need for approval, rejection, re-building and the ultimate loss of innocence. The name LEO itself represents me (my zodiac sign), what I could have been (I was almost named Leo) as well as everything that could be associated with the figure of a Leo or a lion and that encapsulates a lot of my own emotions through my navigation of race.
