PS Ph.D. Alum Henry Castillo Awarded Provost's Early Career Fellowship at University of Texas, Austin

Performance Studies Alumni Henry Castillo (Ph.D. '22) has been awarded a two-year position as a Provost’s Early Career Fellow in the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin.

Henry will begin his appointment in the Department of Theatre and Dance this fall. UT Austin's Early Career Scholars Program supports activities that are intended to prepare early career scholars for independent academic research and teaching at the university through research, scholarship, or creative activities. A primary objective of this program is to facilitate the transition of promising graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and/or pre-tenure faculty to independent, tenure-track faculty positions at UT Austin or other institutions that are devoted to research. Henry is a scholar-practitioner whose interdisciplinary work includes afro-diasporic performance, Latinx theatre, cultural heritage, and racial theory.
