Performance Studies Alum Richard Move (Ph.D. '19, M.A. '10) has been awarded a 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship.

Richard Move is an assistant arts professor in the Department of Dance at the Tisch School of the Arts, has received choreographic commissions that include productions for Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project, two works for the Martha Graham Dance Company, and a solo for New York City Ballet Principal, Heléne Alexopoulos.

The Guggenheim Foundation awards approximately 175 fellowships to individuals making their mark in the social sciences, the natural sciences, the humanities, and the creative arts. Some notable early Fellows include Rachel Carson, James Baldwin, Martha Graham, and Linus Pauling. Guggenheim Fellowships are intended for mid-career individuals who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts and exhibit great promise for their future endeavors.
