Untitled Closure Performance

PS Alum, Penelope Gould, will be presenting a reading of her new play Untitled Closure Performance alongside Max Mooney at Paradise Factory on Thursday, October 3rd at 7pm.

These two collaborators met in their Introduction to Performance Studies class. Their collaboration was born out of conversations about the performance of the everyday, archiving of ephemeral work, and Richard Schechner’s “not-not me.” As artists trained in theater, they were curious about the line between performance art and theater. This play came out of these questions.

Xandra, a young performance artist, has coerced Jo, her soon-to-be ex-girlfriend, an older artist, to do one last piece with her. They’ve decided that as a couple whose art was intertwined with their romance, reproducing the trajectory of their relationship (both personal and artistic) will give them the closure they need as they break up.
