Patrícia Gomes Receives Ph.D. in Performance Studies from UC Berkeley

PS alum Patrícia Gomes (MA '17) has recently graduated from UC Berkeley with her Ph.D. in Performance Studies with a designated emphasis in Women and Gender Studies. In her dissertation "Geo-corporeal Performance as a Feminist, Decolonial, and Transnational Strategy of Resistance," she centers Black and Indigenous theories to show the connection between performance, activism, and land-based epistemes through a method she calls geo-corporeality. Dr. Gomes will begin this Fall as the UCLA Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Patrícia Lino in Spanish & Portuguese.
