Monika Błaszczak (PS M.A. '24) is premiering a new work "Forefathers' Eve II" commissioned by Polish Dance Theatre on June 19, 2026. The show will also be presented at the Malta Festival on June 22.

About "Forefathers' Eve II"
In Adam Mickiewicz’s "Forefathers’ Eve II", we meet foreign souls and our own shadows: while following the play’s characters, we encounter ourselves, entangled in ambiguous desires and searching for connection. The ritual described by the Polish bard becomes a space of encounter between the living and the un/dead, as well as an opportunity to renew human connection within the safe confines of a staged encounter. Bodies set into motion during the ritual create a time-space to which we invite all peculiar absences and presences. We invite you as well: join the ritual to experience it anew!

Monika Błaszczak is a Polish-Łemko dancer and choreographer based in Berlin. Originally trained as a professional ballerina, she later transitioned to experimental and anti-disciplinary approaches to dance. She is the founder of Monika’s Dance World, established in 2025.

Her movement practice Soliloquy – Hauntological Somatics investigates the body as a site of memory, haunting, and desire; it has been taught internationally. Her performances have been presented in Europe, Asia, South America, and North America, including at Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Place, Laban Theatre, V.O Curations, South London Gallery, Polish Dance Theatre, and the Barbican Centre.
