CroMagnon, a Mexico City based theatre company, releases a new video clip directed by Diego Cristian Saldaña (MA '17).
The Subject Object is a videoclip that rearranges spectacularity in music videos to shift from the erotic-silent body to the erotic body of language. The filmmaking and film photography are in charge of female artists; the five performers on screen are men; there's an experiment in the possibility of a "female gaze". Meanwhile, onstage the five performers try to find a language to speak out hipersexualization of women bodies, and violence, as experienced by heterosexual men (desiring and criminal objects). Vocabulary is destabilized leading easily to political incorrectness. This is a critical view on the relation between beauty and power in mass culture, in times when sexuality and desire of power may easily lead to death.
